A customized
Audio Note Custom DAC 2.1

First two pictures show an overall view of the internals of the Audio Note DAC2.1 Custom. Please note this unit is not 100% complete at the time of this picture..

This picture gives you a close-up of the custom power supply employed. You will notice that the Mundorf M-TubeCap capacitors have been mounted on a custom made mounting platform. Other circuit boards have been repositioned to allow for the installation of the power supply mounting stage. You will also notice these main power supply filter capacitors (Mundorf M-TubeCap) are bypassed with V-Cap Tefon capacitors. These are the capacitors located right at the leads coming off the capacitors.

You will also see two more much larger value V-Cap Teflon capacitors that are mounted on the power supply board.

This picture shows the main analog stage of the DAC as well as the upgraded transformers at left of the board.

On the line board, you see the Audio Note Copper Oil capacitors that this customer chose to go with in his unit. All resistors shown are Audio Note Tantalum types.

Overall, the sound of this custom built DAC has bested other DAC's up to $5k. The Audio Note Custom DAC 2.1 Deluxe exhibits a black background and lowest possible noise floor. Paired up with a quality transport and you will have a digital system that will be reminiscent of the best vinyl playback.
