Thank you for your interest in SP Technology Products. Before investigating the products below further, we would like to make one thing clear. Their mission is to do all that they can to help advance the art of recorded music while offering true value to the end user. In that, they are committed to developing products that are based on legitimate and quantifiable performance objectives.

The upshot is that you will find they are not “just another loudspeaker company.” A thorough review of their products would not be complete without the ultimate proof: Hearing is believing. In so doing you will agree that the following is not just another industry slogan, but a heart felt commitment and profound destiny…

The new Reference...for the new Millennium

Attention music producers, recording engineers and of course true audiophiles and music lovers. You owe it to yourself to find out why the SP Technology loudspeakers may be the perfect choice for your recording/monitoring studio or nestled into your high-end home audio system. Read more about the theory and design behind these loudspeakers.

For those who are interested in a product designed with many of the same techniques and principles as those shown below but at a price that is more attractive to the budget conscious, please check out Response Audio's own advanced version of SP Technology's very own AV Concert Series line, the Bella SP/AV-1.

TIMEPIECE 3.0

A continuum of revelation in sound awaits you as the Timepiece monitoring system reveals the inner-most details of your recordings and playback system while captivating you with a sense of dynamic realism seldom experienced at any price. They represent the first and smallest member in the SP Technology family of monitoring systems that we refer to as the "Millennial Reference Series.™" Having been designed for professional use; our intent was to create nothing less than a "World Class Standard" of timeless performance and beauty -- at a reasonable price. After your first listen you will agree that they are truly "The New Reference for the New Millennium."

In the quest for excellence, the course of Natural Law directed the ultimate form of the Timepiece Performance and the underlying laws of acoustics dictated the choice of technologies -- not existing market demands. Why? -- because market demands change over time but natural law does not. The consequence is a product that fulfills the requirements of multiple applications. Accuracy, controlled and constant dispersion, power handling, finish and user features allow the Timepiece 2.1™ to be equally at home in any of the following applications:

STUDIO MONITORING --- HIGH END HOME AUDIO --- HOME THEATER

Below we have listed a general overview of the feature set that distinguishes the Timepiece from other products. In reviewing it you will understand that it is SYSTEM design that is important in developing "world class" products -- NOT the marketing hype that over emphasizes one or two features of a product that may or may not really offer an improvement over the existing art. Compare and see if any other manufacturer offers as much in-depth system engineering, performance and timeless beauty at two, three and even many times the price.

WHAT THE CRITICS ARE SAYING

I am dumbfounded to think you can have this level of performance at this price point. And that is even without considering the exquisite, glass-like front panel finish, real wood veneer side panels, and useful tweeter level switch and termination options! Several listeners including myself put a blind price of around $4,000 to $8,000 for the pair in comparison to other loudspeakers auditioned.

Enjoy the Music - October 2003 <Read Full Review>

The overall feeling we got from extensive use of the speakers (everyone wanted to use them) was of an unveiling of details and renewed dynamics within the mixes with none of the artifacts created through artificial emphasis. Thanks in no small part to the waveguide, on- and off-axis dispersion and overall spectral imaging was clean and consistent.

Smooth frequency response and dynamic performance reinforce SP Technology's mission statement that they built these monitors from the ground up in partnership with the laws of physics. I found that the customary studio monitor acclimation period was very brief with these speakers - even the earliest mixes I did on the Timepiece 2.0 monitors translated very well.

SP Technology's Timepiece 2.0s are unquestionably among the finest monitors I have had the pleasure of using.

Quote from Bruce Bartlett

"" The Timepiece 2.0's are among the finest I've heard in my 30 year career. They are exemplary in their wide-range, flat response; tight bass, high resolution, sharp imaging, and overall smooth musical sound. I highly recommend them.""

Subheading Goes HereContinuum A.D. MKII

The "continuum" of performance expands even further in the form of the Continuum A.D. MKII™ monitoring system. As an evolutionary step forward from the Timepiece 2.1, it too reveals the inner-most details of your recordings and playback system -- and more. Building upon the foundation laid by its predecessor, it advances into regions of performance where its smaller sibling could not venture. The reproduction of recorded sound is presented with a majestic sense of authority and dynamics often only experienced at a live performance. The most subtle of nuances and micro-dynamics are brought into breathtaking focus, yet they are never masked by the extreme dynamics all "Millennial Reference Series.™" products are renowned for.

Emotionally, the Continuum A.D. MKII™ (shown at left) becomes a transport into a boundless continuum of sonic envelopment. Logically, It represents a more mature development of the technologies comprising the "Millennial Reference Series.™" From inception, this model was designed for professional monitoring use while offering the refined qualities demanded by the devout enthusiast. It offers even lower distortion, greater power handling, a more authoritative presentation and a more tightly controlled vertical dispersion than the Timepiece 2.1. After your first listen you will agree that the Continuum A.D. easily commands the title of "The New Reference for the New Millennium."

In the quest for excellence, the course of Natural Law directed the ultimate form of the Continuum A.D. MKII™. Performance and the underlying laws of acoustics dictated the choice of technologies -- not existing market demands. Why? -- because market demands change over time but natural law does not. WHAT THE CRITICS ARE SAYING

I immensely enjoyed my time with the SP Tech Continuum 2.5 loudspeakers. They do not call attention to themselves with commanding bandwidth or ruthless resolution, as do some speakers in their high-stakes price range. Many customers shopping in this segment of the market want something flashy, and the SP Techs are not for them. Rather, they are for people who know the sound of real music, in real time and space.

Revelation

The speakers shown below are as they appeared at this years (2006) CES show in Los Vegas. Standing tall and proud are the Revelations being driven by a pair of Luminance Audio KST-150 amplifiers being feed by the ModWright SWL-9.0 preamp.

The "smaller" speakers in the picture are the Timepieces sitting on SP's very own Golden Ratio stands. As you can tell by the young lady next to the speakers, these are not your average "bookshelf" designs.

I would like to thank Karsten for supplying and allowing us to use this picture.

"I despise speakers.  I love microphones ... all microphones, because -- if you know what you're doing --  each microphone,  no matter what, is useful in a set of special applications.
"I count the number of speakers I've used, heard, and reviewed that earn my complete respect on one hand . . . less than five fingers.
"I've never heard a speaker that reproduces all the music -- all the ambient information I strive to capture in my recordings-- until I heard SP TECH's 'Revelation MR-1' . . . I'll not relent until, with their shocking nakedness, they are locked into place as monitoring companions here at BluePort Sound."

SP Technology

The winner of the Heartstring Award is SP Technology, whose Millennial Reference Series Revelation MR-1 loudspeaker ($15,995/pair) caused a case of shallow breathing. The combination of cabinetry, waveguide technology, transmission-line bass loading, and Linkwitz-Riley fourth-order crossover gave a sense of dynamic anticipation that none of the other rooms quite matched. I’ve heard a rumor that an electronics manufacturer plans to use SP Technology as the basis for a line of active professional monitors. The catch here is that the crossover will go before the amplification. As Aurum Acoustics has shown, this is the way to design an active system.

Shown at right is the Revelation MR-1 MKII with upgraded woofers and the whole 9 yards. Finished in high gloss piano black with copper accents.

A full range speaker system that is sure to impress both the eyes and the ears of anyone who come across it. A first class finish that would make a Porsche jealous.
