Extreme Upgrade
 Turning a great value into an affordable reference

With the long time popularity of the Custom JD100 CD player, we have decided to bring this unit back again for a limited time but now with many more enhancements as compared to our original.

Since it's introduction, the JD100 Custom has been running in our showroom providing several years of trouble free operation. The Jolida JD100 is one of the best values in it's class right out of the box. Our modification to this vacuum tube CD player brings forth the last bit of potential and performance it has to offer.

An original custom JD100 player has been running in our showroom for several years and will remain for several more. With the popularity of our original Custom Upgrade, we have been asked to bring back upgrades to this highly regarded tube CD player but with further enhancements.

We have been holding off in releasing this newly enhanced unit until we had more feedback from our customers on exactly what they wanted from this already exceptional, high value machine. What we found out was that most people did not want to loose the seductive nature of the tube output stage but would like to see more dynamic control, inner detail retrieval, and resolution. After experimenting with the JD100, we found that it would not take much to give the people what they wanted and at an affordable price. 

With these highly effective upgrades, we were able to provide listeners with an emotionally involving presentation that maintains the seductive tube nature while improving even further the transparency and resolution of the midrange and upper end frequencies. A new sense of realism, detail, liveliness and refinement is now added to the presentation along with exceptional dynamic control. The low end provides more body and weight while remaining tight and firm. A CD player that will keep you involved with the music! 

 What's involved

  • Aluminum skinned dampening material applied to internal chassis. This helps in both EMI/RFI prevention as well as resonance control. (see note "1" below)

  • 24 AWG solid silver, Teflon dielectric, output signal wire. Copper wire is also available.

  • 8 Ultra-fast, soft recovery Fairchild power supply diodes

  • Elna Silmic II and Cerafine electrolytic capacitors located on analog stage output board

  • High grade Panasonic electrolytic capacitors in the high voltage power filter bank

  • Dale/Vishay 1% RN signal path resistors

  • 4 pieces Clarity Cap MR (highest grade), metallized polypropylene or VH Audio OIMP (oil impregnated metallized polypropylene) capacitors installed in the signal path of the analog output stage

  • 2 pieces V-Cap TFTF (Teflon) capacitors used in bypass of final output stage coupling capacitors

  • Analog output stage circuit board relocated and an additional coupling capacitor mounting board is designed and mounted close to the output RCA connectors.

  • RoHS Silver Solder used throughout

  • Approximate 6 hours of  labor depending on options

Sonic expectations:

The JD100 Extreme upgrade is unlike our original JD100 Custom. The Extreme is more articulate in comparison to the warmer tone of the JD100 Custom. The bass is tighter and faster. The noise floor is quieter allowing for a blacker background. The overall tonal character of the JD Extreme is more inner detail, a better sense of liveliness/realism and better articulation and extension in the upper frequencies.

The JD100 Custom+, using the V-Cap OIMP capacitors maintains that tube warmth while providing all the additional enhancements one would expect from a high quality CD player. The JD100 Custom+ is the same upgrade as the original upgrade that put this unit on the map for Response Audio but with the additions added to the other areas of the unit as seen above.

NOTES:

1) If you run any type of coupling devices under your JD100 player, please let us know at time of scheduling your upgrade. We do NOT install the damping material in units utilizing "hard coupling" devises.

2) Turnaround times are determined at time of ordering based on the date it arrives at our NY facility. Average turnaround is 20 days from the time it shows up at our facility.

3) We are not a reseller of new units. The price above is for the upgrade on consumer supplied unit and does not include the shipping to and from our facility in Endicott, NY.
