Veracity HT2-TL overview
Pictures below are of actual speakers in our
showroom. All writings below are taken directly from
the Salk Sound website.
Based
on the phenomenal acceptance of the SongTower QWT's
and their transmission line cabinets, we wondered
what would happen if we re-visited the Veracity HT2
design and developed a transmission line version of
what was already an extremely fine speaker. Since
Paul Kittinger designed the SongTower cabinets based
on the pioneering work of Martin King, we called
upon Paul to work his magic again.
The result is the Veracity HT2-TL, a speaker
that far surpassed our already high expectations.
This design has it all. The world-class LCY
pure ribbon tweeter, a pair of Seas Excel W18's, a
transmission line cabinet and, of course, an
incomparable Dennis Murphy crossover design. It all
comes together in a speaker with seamless
integration from the extremely transparent top end
to bass response down to 32Hz.
The Veracity HT2-TL's frequency response is
32Hz to 60,000Hz +/- 3db and is essentially
ruler-flat from 45Hz to 25,000Hz. It delivers
crystal-clear transparency on the top end, extremely
accurate midrange capable of resolving minute
details in the source recording and, at the same
time, delivers deep, musical bass...all with
inaudible levels of distortion. What's more, it's
imaging capabilities are difficult to put into
words.
That may sound too good to be true, but that
is what we hoped for and the results exceeded our
high expectations.
Veracity HT2-TL features
The
Drivers
The
HT2-TL's feature two world class drivers in an MTM
configuration. The LCY pure
ribbon tweeter provides an extremely detailed
and transparent top end. This low mass driver is
capable of reproducing minute detail in the overtone
structure of instruments, providing the illusion
that the performers are in the room with you. It is
like a crystal clear window into the sound.
Building on the speed of the LCY tweeter, we
selected a pair of Seas Excel W18 midwoofers. These
magnesium-coned drivers are also low mass, very
detailed and extremely accurate.
the
crossover
Another Dennis Murphy classic,
the HT2-TL crossovers provide seamless integration
between these world-class drivers.
the cabinets
Technically described as a
quarter wave tube design, the transmission line
cabinets designed by Paul Kittinger are based on the
pioneering work of Martin King. The cabinets take
advantage of quarter wave tuning and allow the W18's
to play to a F3 of 32 Hz - incredible extension for
a 7" driver!
When we designed the cabinets, we knew we
wanted something special. So rather than use the
standard 3/4" MDF, we used 1" MDF instead. The extra
mass in the cabinet walls, combined with two
internal braces, makes for a very inert and solid
cabinet with greatly reduced cabinet resonance. Each
of the cabinets weighs in at 87 pounds! (The design,
of course, can be built with 3/4" MDF to reduce the
depth from 17" to 14" upon request.)
the
sound
To paraphrase an old saying,
"for those who have heard them, no explanation is
necessary...for those who have not, none is
possible."
The top end is transparent. The midrange is
detailed and accurate. The bass is musical and
impactful. The bass extension is greater than one
would expect from 7" drivers. The integration is
seamless. Imaging is pinpoint. The soundstage is
deep and wide. What more can we say?

Veracity HT2-TL Pricing & Upgrades
The HT2-TL cabinets are
normally built with 1" MDF which provides added mass
over the normal 3/4" used in many of our other
models.
The cabinets also feature a separate 1/2" MDF
front baffle over the drivers in the upper portion
of the cabinet.
HT2-TL cabinets can be finished in satin black
or the custom color of your choice. They can also be
veneered in a range of woods from standard to
premium. Again, it is your choice.
There are also several other options such as
hardwood trim with no additional front baffle,
hardwood front baffles and plinths, etc.
The point is, you can have your HT2-TL's any
way you want them. Just let us know and we'll make
it happen.
