The design goals of our Bella SP/AV-2 loudspeaker was to offer more of a "they are here" presentation drawing you, the listening, deeper into the music from a high efficiency loudspeaker system utilizing SP Technology's Waveguide design. The Waveguide design provides a spacious soundstage that does not disappear  as you move about while giving you an amazing sense of imaging when hanging out in that sweet spot. Placed horizontally, the SP/AV-2 makes for one of the best center channel speakers around for even the largest rooms.  Dispersion remains wide and deep on both the vertical and horizontal plain like no other conventional speaker can. No more wasting precious listening time evaluating your components, it's time to start appreciating and enjoying the music. Even solid state home theater receivers will provide a sense of emotional involvement when paired to the Bella/SP loudspeakers- but without the "clutter" and "fuzziness" that a lot of speakers exhibit with higher crossover frequencies. These Bella SPs have the magic balance of warmth in the lower midrange with clarity, detail and speed from the 1,000 Hz crossover frequency on up. While even moderately priced, low power receivers sound quite acceptable on them, feed them some clean tube power and get ready for sonic nirvana! But don't take my word for it - stop in for an audition and judge for yourself. 

The Bella SP/AV-2 is designed as a high-end, high efficiency speaker system. With it's 96dB/2.83v sensitivity, these speakers can obviously be mated with just about any means of amplification you might have in mind. Low power, tube amp home theater set-ups will keep you up till the wee hours without even realizing it.

Ironically, SP's Waveguide Technology was developed to extract the most performance possible for music reproduction. As a secondary side effect, it offers better performance for home theater applications than most products designed specifically for home theater. The controlled dispersion provided by the Waveguide is exactly what Tomlinson Holman was thinking of when he invented the THX specifications. Now we just need to get George Lucas to hear his work through this technology.

About the Bella SP/ AV Series?

Response Audio is utilizing a unique recipe of internal components. The crossovers will utilize high grade capacitors from VH Audio's V-Cap line including both the TFTF (Teflon Film Tin Foil) and the OIMP (Oil Impregnated Metalized Polypropylene) and Theta Audio Cap PPT series. High grade air core inductors as well as audio grade Mills resistors are also utilized. Correction circuits allowing for a flat response are also incorporated into each unit. These are extremely time consuming circuits as each tweeter is individually tested with the circuit being design based on the test results. We do not use "standardized" circuits as this would only cause strange imbalances in the matching of each pair of speakers as no two drivers have the same electrical characteristics.

The external crossover enclosures are of a high quality aluminum design. The speaker cabinet will also utilize an internal arrangement not commonly found in many of today's designs but something we here at Response Audio have utilized in many of our modified speaker systems for several years now.

These unique x-over and internal damping techniques will allow the Bella SP/AV series to maintain speed, dynamics and transparency while still providing just the right balance of musicality and emotional involvement. If you are looking for an "audiophile" analytical presentation with pinpoint imaging that disappears when you get up for a snack, you are looking in the wrong place. If you are looking for a speaker to provide you with musical realism for hours on end without fatigue, give us a call or stop in for an audition. All Bella SP systems will utilize a full wrap-around grill with the top and bottom "caps" being finished in your choice of one of the real wood veneers shown below. All speaker systems will be custom finished upon ordering.

Modifications and Upgrades

We have spent countless hours and sleepless nights in the design of these speakers to optimize their performance. Therefore, we will not be offering "variations" that may distract from our sonic goals. We are offering only the fullest potential these speakers have to offer right from the start. The only option will be your choice of single or bi-wire arrangement in both internal and external setups. (Bi-Wire is not an option with ZERO-Autoformers)

The Bella SP/AV series loudspeakers are custom ordered from Response Audio or our Midwest affiliate Jam'n Audio. Beginning early spring 2006, we will also make available the Bella Subwoofer System to be mated with these speakers.

This series of 3 pictures shows a pair of external crossovers for the Bella SP/AV-2. Notice the Eichmann Cable Pods for speaker cable input and the Speak-on connector where our custom umbilical cord is used to connect the crossover to the speaker cabinet. These external crossovers, as shown below, are available in Aluminum or Black.

   

 

The picture at left shows two stands that are available for the Musica Bella loudspeakers. The let stand (under the Bella SP/AV-2) is SP Technology's Golden Ratio Stand that was actually designed for the Continuum shown in the picture (right speaker).

The stand shown under the Continuum is a stand we had custom designed to perfectly match our Musica Bella loudspeakers.

All Musica Bella speakers are wired with 14 awg Multistrand Oxygen-free copper cable throughout.

A  custom umbilical cord utilizing 4 pole Speak-On connectors at each end will be supplied to connect the external crossover to the speaker cabinet. Length of this cord will be 4 feet standard and be comprised of a custom 14/4 multi-strand oxygen free copper manufactured by Tributaries Cables. If you require longer umbilical cords, please add $10 per each additional foot.

For all external "Autoformer Crossovers" as well as speakers with internal crossovers, the use of Eichmann Cable Pods will be used for the best possible contact.

Highly recommended upgrade option:
We are now installing a pair of Bybee Purifiers at the inputs of the tweeter. I have experimented with just the right placement of these units and found that it is necessary to install them on the custom Waveguide mounting plate. A little more time consuming but the results are phenomenal.

When the vinyl finish is chosen, the back and bottom of the cabinets are finished in the black texture

When any Real Wood Veneer option is selected, the enclosure side panels and top are finished with real wood veneers and quality top coat of your choice. The  back panel and bottom are finished with quality black textured vinyl finish. 

 All real wood veneer is finished in several coats of "Antique Oil" to allow a very natural wood appearance and to allow the true nature of these woods to age like a fine wine.

Satin Polyurethane finish also available. No additional cost.

Note: Response Audio uses the finest hardwood veneers. Unlike laminates and plastics, 
each piece of veneer is unique and different. Several hand rubbed coats of Antique Oil Finish is used to allow each species to age naturally, not seal it in.
Our finishing process is very time consuming and done by hand one pair at a time.
